As a result, the city is taking a multi-faceted approach to diversifying its housing offer.While there are several different ways to achieve affordable housing, the Affordable Housing Trust Fund has emerged as a potential solution. The Fund would provide a financial incentive for developers to build affordable units in existing buildings. These projects can meet current zoning requirements, as well as qualify for Federal Low Income Housing Tax Credits. Additionally, the fund will prepare annual reports and audits for the public.Currently, Greenwich has 1,380 units of affordable housing. However, the town needs to develop another 1,140 units to reach the state's 10% affordable housing target. This means that additional funding is needed to cover these expenses.
